#837 – Release Them

Good morning people created to be free

(By Graeme Cann)

It is time to think about a very important truth. One of the reasons God wants us free from guilt is so that our enemy, the devil, will not be able to manipulate and control our lives. The same is true of perpetrators of pain in our lives. If we stay connected to them through un-forgiveness we give them continuing and frightening power over us. However through God’s unlimited forgiveness of us we can have complete Freedom from the Power of Perpetrators.

Romans 12:21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

When we are locked into anger and vengeful thoughts we are not free to hear what God is saying to us and we are not free to obey what He says. In fact we are being overcome by evil; not only the evil that was done to us in the past but by evil that is being perpetuated by our refusal to cut off our connection through anger to the perpetrator.

In this same passage Paul urges us not to repay evil with evil and do not seek revenge rather give up your anger because vengeance is mine says the Lord; I will repay.

Sometimes the hurt has been so great that the only way we can move forward is to say “I will hand the perpetrator over to God, for only He can avenge me for what has happened to me.”

The important thing is get off the judgement throne. Stop judging the person who has hurt you and stop judging yourself and stop judging everybody you think does not understand you or care about you. Let God judge them and you, for then and only then will you overcome evil with good.

What a privilege to be free to be who God has created us to be.
