#969 – Twelve Apostles

Good morning people committed to discipleship

Jesus had many disciples, in fact He had large crowds of them. From this great number He chose twelve of them to be apostles.

Luke 6:13,17 When morning came, He called His disciples to Him and chose twelve of them, whom He also designated apostles…He went down with them (the twelve apostles) and stood on a level place. A large crowd of His disciples was there and a great number of people from all over Judea, from Jerusalem, and from the coast of Tyre and Sidon.

There were many disciples. This word disciple means a learner; a pupil. I think we should all be disciples of Jesus; ones who learn from Him, who become His pupils.

Are you intentional about this?

From the many pupils, Jesus chose just twelve to be apostles. The word apostle here is so rich. Here’s what it means:

A delegate; specifically an ambassador of the Gospel; officially a commissioner of Christ (“apostle”), (with miraculous powers): – apostle, messenger, he that is sent.

Wow! That’s what I want to be. Yes I want to be one who learns but I also want that learning to translate into action. I want my life to be lived as an ambassador of Jesus Christ. I want to represent Him well. I want my life to be living proof of a resurrected Christ. I want to walk in the miraculous power of God…power that is available to every single one of us!

How about you?
