#970 – Small Groups

Good morning people doing life together

Yesterday we talked about Jesus having many disciples (learners, pupils) out of which He chose just twelve to be apostles (delegates, ambassadors, messengers that He sent).

Luke 6:13,17 When morning came, He called His disciples to Him and chose twelve of them, whom He also designated apostles…He went down with them (the twelve apostles) and stood on a level place. A large crowd of His disciples was there and a great number of people from all over Judea, from Jerusalem, and from the coast of Tyre and Sidon.

Today I encourage you to be part of a small group of people who help move you from pupil to ambassador.

I intentionally meet with several men of God who absolutely stir me up in the things of God. Every conversation is encouraging and empowering. Our relationship is one that is God-authored and I know it is part of our journey of going deeper into our calling as ambassadors. Most of the time we meet individually (due to some practical reasons), but we do meet.

Jesus only chose twelve which I think is significant.

Sure you can have many friends but have you identified a few people who have committed to moving forward in God with you?

I don’t believe this is an optional extra. I think this is imperative to our lives. I also believe the benefits go beyond what we have talked about. These types of relationships also add safety and accountability. These types of relationships provide a support to you in your vulnerable and difficult times. I believe we need these relationships; these intentional and regular relationships that move us from pupil to ambassador.

Do you have these types of relationships?

If not, today would be a great day to start on that journey.
