#5467 – Speaking Corporately

Good morning people who do not neglect gathering together with other believers.

Leviticus 8:1-5 NIV The Lord said to Moses, “Bring Aaron and his sons, their garments, the anointing oil, the bull for the sin offering, the two rams and the basket containing bread made without yeast, and gather the entire assembly at the entrance to the tent of meeting.” Moses did as the Lord commanded him, and the assembly gathered at the entrance to the tent of meeting. Moses said to the assembly, “This is what the Lord has commanded to be done.”

God can speak to anyone, anywhere, at anytime. I want to establish this truth clearly upfront.

But it is also true that there are some things that God only speaks when God’s people are gathered all together.

I feel like this is an age-old tension for some Christians.

There are often “good reasons” why some people do not gather together. And I am not saying that there aren’t things that need to be worked through, forgiven and healed. If this is you, I pray that Father leads you forward into a place of greater health.

That said, God’s pattern involves speaking through godly leaders to the churches.

I personally am privileged to be one of those entrusted to share God’s Word and God’s heart to others. I also am privileged to be part of an incredible Bible-believing, Bible-preaching, Spirit-saturated church. Every time I hear God’s Word through His leaders, I hear God’s voice.

In the book of Revelation, the Spirit spoke corporately to the churches. Those who heard it were the ones who had ears to hear. In other words, their heart posture was one of humility and they wanted to hear from God.

We need to gather together in humility and a listening ear if we are going to hear what the Spirit wants to say to the churches.
