#5661 – Restful Rhythms

Good morning people who rediscover the place of rest in God for every part of your life.

I hear the Lord say, “The rest of God is found in the pace of God.”

Running ahead of God cannot produce rest, and neither can lagging behind God produce rest.

In fact, rest is not something to be produced, but rather, rest is something to be entered into. More accurately, rest is someone to be entered into and to remain continually in.

Jesus declares very clearly in Matthew 11:28-30 that rest is something He gives when we come to Him. In other words, rest is found in Him and in our partnership with Him through our continual remaining in Him. There can be no true rest outside of being in God.

Look at the picture The Message Bible paints of this spiritual reality:

Matthew 11:28-30 MSG “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Notice the invitation is to ‘get away with God and you’ll recover your life. God will show you how to take a real rest.” It’s not just from God, but it’s in God and with God. It’s never changed my friends.

The other part that I am specifically drawn to is ‘walk with God and work with God – watch how He does it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.’ The Word is so rich, and if we could only walk according to it this year, things would look very different. Of this I am convinced.

I declare: It’s time for reclaiming a rhythm of rest in God!
