#5729 – Knowing Seasons

Good morning people who understand what God is requiring of you today.

Proverbs 10:5 MEV He who gathers in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.

There is a literal truth here that is culturally relevant. In this agricultural proverb, wise people gather the harvest at harvest time. When it’s ripe to be picked, it should be picked.

Conversely, foolish people sleep when it’s harvest time. The result is a ruined harvest.

From this agricultural platform, let’s lean into a deeper spiritual truth that applies to every person, and here it is:

Wise people understand the seasons; wise people know what it is time for, and they do what is needed.

The word gather in this verse above means harvest, and so too does the word summer. Therefore, the translation accurately reads like this:

He who harvests at harvest time is a wise son. Do you see it?

This scripture then parallels the wise person with a foolish person who knows that it is harvest time, but instead of harvesting, they sleep. This causes shame to those around us.

Yes, there is diligent working seen in this scripture, but it is more about seasons.

Are you doing what Father has called you to do in this season?

Are you on track and on time with God’s will for you and through you?
