#1164 – Daily Wisdom

Good morning people who receive from God

Acts 7:9-10 Because the patriarchs were jealous of Joseph, they sold him as a slave into Egypt. But God was with him and rescued him from all his troubles. He gave Joseph wisdom and enabled him to gain the goodwill of Pharaoh king of Egypt; so he made him ruler over Egypt and all his palace.

God gave Joseph wisdom.

I love reading those two words together – God gave. God is a giver – the Giver – that’s Who He is. God cannot not give. That’s right, He can’t stop giving because it’s at the core of Who He is.

Like with Joseph, one of the things God promises to give us is wisdom.

James 1:5-6 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

There is a condition to receiving wisdom – or anything else – from God, and that is, we must ask in faith.

I believe we need to get our thinking correct here because this is not speaking about never having a moment of doubt or question. Rather I believe it is pointing us to having a greater belief in God and His ability to give than in our ability, or for that matter, inability, questions or moments of doubt.

Jesus responds to those moving forward on the journey of faith. Remember the man in the Bible who brought his sick son to Jesus and Jesus asked him if he believed. His response is “I believe but would you help my unbelief”. Jesus healed his son.

Solomon asked for wisdom and God gave him wisdom and so much more.

Wisdom is one of those things that we should all ask for on a regular basis.

And don’t forget, God loves to give!
