#1289 – Forgiven But…

Good morning people who seek to honour God,

Now I want to say something that must be held in context with my continual emphasis on God’s grace being greater than our sin. It absolutely and unequivocally is. When we ask God to forgive us, we are completely forgiven, but…

…there are still consequences for sins, yes even sins that have been forgiven.

Please, you must hear this clearly today.

Numbers 14:20-23 The Lord replied, “I have forgiven them, as you asked. Nevertheless, as surely as I live and as surely as the glory of the Lord fills the whole earth, not one of those who saw My glory and the signs I performed in Egypt and in the wilderness but who disobeyed Me and tested Me ten times— not one of them will ever see the land I promised on oath to their ancestors. No one who has treated Me with contempt will ever see it.

Don’t be flippant and think God’s grace is a ‘no consequence‘ card, like a ‘get out of jail free‘ card in Monopoly – it is not.

God can forgive you if you drink and drive, but there may still be severe and life-changing consequences.

God can forgive you if you have sex outside of marriage, but there may still be severe and life-changing consequences.

God can forgive you if you lie, cheat or steal, but there may still be severe and life-changing consequences.

Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
