#5366 – Following God

Good morning people who move beyond choosing God to following God.

Becoming a Christian is not the goal. Becoming a disciple of Jesus is the goal.

The word disciple means pupil, student, learner. It is more than sitting in lectures and listening to someone speak. It is about following a master.

When Jesus called people to “Come, follow Me”, He was not calling them to sit in a classroom and listen to Him. He was calling them to leave everything, deny themselves, take up their cross and to literally follow Him. This was a call to full commitment.

Nothing has changed.

The following verse has an important message for today:

1 Kings 18:21 NIV Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” But the people said nothing.

God is calling His people back to separation and singularity. God is calling His people back to following Jesus.
