#5493 – Rebuke the Thief

Good morning people who do not shrink back from deliverance from the devil.

I don’t want to upset people, but nor do I want to keep silent on a common reality in the bible that contains in it the power of true and lasting freedom.

Jesus cast demons out of people – often. He did it in occasions that we would concur the demonic was at work. But He also did it on many occasions when we wouldn’t think it was demonic. Here’s just one example:

Luke 11:14 NIV Jesus was driving out a demon that was mute. When the demon left, the man who had been mute spoke, and the crowd was amazed.

Here’s a man who couldn’t speak, and Jesus rightly identified that it was a demon that was at the root of the problem in this instance.

Please hear me my friends. Not every sickness has a demon at its root. To think this and approach praying for every sick person this way is wrong and it is potentially very damaging.

But now I need you to equally hear me. Sometimes sickness and pain can be demonic at its root – like with this man who couldn’t speak. Therefore, in these cases, the demon needs to be bound and told to leave in Jesus’ name. The result will be divine healing!

Discernment from the Holy Spirit is needed here. But we need to understand that it takes spiritual maturity to accurately discern. This takes people who deeply know God’s Word and completely listen to and depend on the Holy Spirit. Asking Him what is happening when you pray is essential.

Hebrews 5:14 NIV But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

Freedom is on God’s heart, and this will at times mean driving out demons in the name of Jesus. The thief needs to be evicted by the power of the Holy Spirit!
