Good morning people who never lose sight of the privilege of serving our wonderful God.
Ephesians 3:7 NIV I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power.
Paul repeatedly stated that he was a servant of God and a servant of the gospel. This is not because he did not have a revelation that Jesus now calls us friends, not servants (John 15:15). In fact, I believe it was because he had received a revelation that he had miraculously been transformed from an enemy of God to a friend of God!
Friends of God never outgrow a heart attitude to wholeheartedly serve God. The difference is, we do know our Master’s business. In John 15:15, the servant reference is to those who do not know their Master’s business. We do! This changes things.
Our privilege is to co-labour with Christ in the Father’s mission; on earth as it is in heaven. We are not here to do our own thing, but like Jesus, we are here to do the will of our Father who has sent us for kingdom purpose.
I love how Paul covers every base in his writings. He didn’t leave his comments without stating that this was all done through the working of God’s power. In other words, this did not originate from himself, and nor could it be outworked by himself. Being a servant of the gospel can only be done when we receive the gift of God’s grace and when we have a revelation that this is done by God’s power.
Our best is insufficient, but God’s power is our sufficiency. This is what we minister from and this is what empowers our service to the Lord.
