#5646 – The Least

Good morning people who rely upon the goodness of God to define you and complete you.

Ephesians 3:8-9 NIV Although I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ, and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.

Paul was acutely aware that he used to be a terrorist. I believe that this was part of what he was referring to in the following scripture:

Philippians 3:13 NIV Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.

It’s from this place of his human brokenness that Paul declares the grace of God was given to him. He didn’t deserve it, and nor do we. And yet, Jesus gave it freely as He laid down His life.

Paul doesn’t stop there. Yes, he received God’s gift of grace, but he also states that he was given a grace to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ, and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery. He was most qualified because he was least qualified! Please read that again.

There are people in our world today who would be considered the least of the least by many. Maybe like Paul, who was formerly Saul, this includes terrorists among others.

Is God’s grace sufficient to save modern day terrorists?

Absolutely! And Jesus loves them as much as He loves you and I. Of course He doesn’t condone their actions, but He loves them enough to die for them! This is the power of the gospel of grace!

If you feel too far gone, you’re not. If you feel unworthy, God’s grace is sufficient. And it’s not just for you, it is through you. Today is a day to receive God’s gift of grace and to pass it on to others who desperately need an encounter with the God of all grace.
