Good morning people who do not think of yourself more highly than you ought.
Galatians 5:25 NIV But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Once again, the word gentleness is richer and it is deeper than it appears. In the KJV, the word used is meekness, and according to Strong’s concordance, it means gentleness; by implication humility.
God is gentle, meek and humble. Let’s lean in.
God created everything from nothing. It’s impossible to get anywhere close to that level of achievement and perfection. And yet, God is humble. We see this in the most profound way through the giving of the eternal Son as the atoning sacrifice for mankind. Here’s the truth about God:
Philippians 2:5-8 NIV In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!
And we are called to be like Jesus!
There is no place for pride in the life of a believer. Comparisons to others and competition against others is not the fruit of the Holy Spirit. We are called to be different from the world, and living a life of humility, meekness and gentleness is an accurate reflection of our God.
