Good morning people who walk in a way worthy of the One you are following.
Revelations 19:16 NIV On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: King of kings and Lord of lords.
1 Timothy 6:15b NIV …God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords.
Jesus is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. He is the One who is ‘Supreme in authority’ in the lives of those who choose to put their faith and their trust in Him.
I believe that there is a holy call back to living under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. For all who follow Jesus, it’s time to follow Jesus.
The essence of discipleship – which Jesus emphasized continually – is being a student who follows. This following was not just a mental ascent. Following in the truest sense was more about becoming like the Rabbi (the Teacher).
Jesus is our Teacher, and we are called to follow Him. Accepting Jesus is essential for eternal life. However, we can be saved and yet not be following Jesus in the way that the Way has prescribed.
I am aware that some people kick back against “legalism” when they read what I am saying. This mindset is rooted in wrong theology, and by theology I mean the study of God. Theology is different to doctrine, and doctrine must be rooted in theology. What God says comes from who God is, and God is Lord of all.
Here’s my simple and yet profoundly essential question today:
How is your following of God going?
